How to Clean Your Bong the Right Way

If you’re a smoker, then you know that bongs can get pretty dirty over time. Not only does this make your smoking experience less enjoyable, but it can also be dangerous if not cleaned properly. The best thing to do is understand how to clean your bong properly. This article will teach you how to go about it so that it’s nice and fresh for your next smoking session.

Gather the Right Supplies

Before you start cleaning your bong, you need to acquire everything beforehand. You’ll need rubbing alcohol, salt, and a grinder. If you don’t have a grinder, a toothbrush will work fine. Rubbing alcohol and salt is excellent for removing all the gunk and residue buildup in your bong over time.

At the same time, you’ll want to ensure that you have some container to catch the water you’ll be using to rinse your bong. A sink or a bucket will work perfectly for this. The trick is to use something that’s big enough to fit your glass bubbler pipes, and that has a drain. After investing in your bong, the maintenance you do is what will keep it in top smoking form. Therefore, invest in quality supplies so that you can be sure your bong is always clean.

Empty Your Bong

Trying to clean your bong without emptying it is a mistake. All the water and residue there will make cleaning more difficult. So, go ahead and dump it all out before you get started.

While using your latex gloves, give your bong a good shake to eliminate any water left over. You don’t want there to be any water left in there when you start cleaning it. Rinse your bong using warm water and set it aside to dry.

Generally, it’s a good idea to clean your bong after every smoking session. This will help to prevent any buildup from happening in the first place. But, if you don’t have time to clean it after every smoke, then at least try to do it once a week.

Fill Your Bong With Rubbing Alcohol

Once your bong is empty and dry, it’s time to start filling it with rubbing alcohol. You’ll want to use enough so that it’s completely covering all of the surfaces inside. Let it sit for a few minutes so that the alcohol has a chance to break down all of the residues.

If you’re using a salt grinder, then go ahead and add a few tablespoons of salt to the rubbing alcohol. This will help to scrub away any tough spots. If you don’t have a grinder, then regular table salt will work fine.

Once you’ve let it sit for a few minutes, begin shaking your bong. You want to ensure that the alcohol and salt get into the nooks and crannies. Continue shaking it until you feel like all the residue has been loosened.

Do the Dissembling

If your bong has removable parts, it is time to take them off. This will make it easier to clean all of the small pieces. Most bongs have a bowl piece, downstream, and mouthpiece that can be taken apart. Go ahead and remove all these pieces before proceeding to the next step.

The good thing about separating the different parts is that it allows maximal cleaning of each component. By taking it all apart, you’ll be able to get into all of the hard-to-reach places. This is important because residue can build up in these areas and affect your smoking experience.

However, while dissembling, be careful not to lose any small pieces. It can be easy to misplace them when you’re putting everything back together. So, take your time and ensure that all the pieces are accounted for before moving on.

Once you have removed all the pieces, it’s time to soak them in rubbing alcohol. This will help break down any residue that builds up on them over time. Fill a container with enough alcohol so that all pieces are entirely submerged, and let them soak for at least 30 minutes.

Rinse It All Out

Once you’ve let the pieces soak, it’s time to rinse them all off. You’ll want to use hot water for this so that any remaining residue is loosened up. If you have a dishwasher, you can run the pieces through a cycle on the hottest setting.

If you don’t have a dishwasher, rinse them off with hot water and let them air dry. Once they’re dry, go ahead and reassemble your bong. Ensure all the pieces are put back in the right place before using them again.

Cleaning your bong is an essential part of the smoking process. Doing it regularly is important so your smoking experience is not affected. By following the steps above, you’ll be able to keep your bong clean and in good working condition.
