What is a 510 Connector

Many people know what the 510 is, but almost no one knows about caring for it. And without this contraption in the vape, you won’t go far. They are all over the place: atomizers, tanks, and mods produced in recent years. All vapers should understand exactly what a 510 connector is and what this part is responsible for in vaping.

510 connector – a type of threaded connection between the mod and the atomizer, a universal modern connector that has become widespread and used everywhere. The term 510 connectors refer to both the part on the electronic cigarette (in the box mod / mechanical mod) and the counterpart on the atomizer (in the drip/tank). The purpose of the connector 510 is to physically connect the key parts of the electronic cigarette, as well as conduct current. The outer part on the atomizer is “father,” and the part in the fashion is the receiving one – “mother.” Both are referred to as 510 connectors.

Why is the Connector Called 510th

This part was so named due to its length of five millimeters and ten turns on the thread. At the bottom of the tank or evaporator, only the outer (male) part is visible. The inner one is considered to be the receiving one (mother) and is inserted into the mod only after twisting together. Technically, this is the whole 510th.

On each of the parts, there are three sections, each of which has its own tasks. The deepest in any 510 connectors is a small pin that acts as a positive contact for the circuit. The pin can be threaded, plug-in, or spring-loaded. They have the same principle of operation – to conduct current from the battery to the mod and then to the evaporator. Some 510s have a center pin next to the atomizer/tank that can be used with hybrid-style connectors.

The outer part of the ring (male), made of brass with a large hole, is connected directly to the battery in order to minimize the current drop. Maintenance of the 510th

Everyone wants their gadget to always stay in good condition and last longer. To do this, you constantly need to do a couple of manipulations. After some time, oxidation will occur at the connection points; therefore, the quality of the connection will deteriorate. To prevent it, it is enough to clean the threaded connector inside and the “mother” with dishwashing detergent.

Do the same with the outer part. Then the threads will never clog. Often, blockages appear due to slurry spilling down the 510 thread battery. Always make sure you don’t overfill it. After the connection is disassembled, check the insulation well.

In case of dryness and cracks, perhaps it needs to be replaced. If you find signs of melting, do not hesitate to replace them. Once again, if this little thing becomes unusable, then this will endanger the entire device.
