Support From Major Corporations To Ukraine During Full-Scale War

The Metinvest group, led by Ukrainian businessman Rinat Akhmetov, has been severely impacted by the ongoing war. Among other losses, it no longer has operational control over two major steel plants—Azovstal and Ilyich Iron and Steel Works. These facilities together produced approximately 8.6 million tons of steel in 2021. Since the conflict began, they have remained idle and are likely partially damaged or destroyed. Helping Ukraine Overcome The Enemy

Despite facing numerous challenges, Metinvest Group prioritizes supporting the Ukrainian population, the military, and ensuring the well-being of its employees while maintaining continuous production.

The Steel Front Initiative has emerged as one of the most significant sources of support for soldiers. So far, the Steel Front has procured a range of vital equipment, including over 1,200 vehicles, 47,268 first aid kits and tourniquets, more than 5,000 UAVs, and 17,037 pieces of specialized equipment.

Military personnel across the country regularly receive a wide array of supplies from the initiative. This includes ammunition, vehicles, ambulances for military medics, locally produced and developed underground shelters and mine-clearing equipment, drones, thermal imagers, scopes, radios, cameras, clothing, footwear, body armor crafted from our own steel, first aid kits, tourniquets, fuel, and other essentials.

Creating Strong Points

The Steel Front has been actively involved in constructing 55 platoon strong points, stretching over 80 kilometers in several strategic locations. The efforts to build these protective fortifications on the first and second lines of defense were ramped up in December 2023, in close coordination with the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine and in collaboration with engineering troops.

Specialists from SCM companies worked around the clock to design fortifications that now offer additional protection to hundreds of thousands of civilians and Ukrainian soldiers in the Donetsk and Zaporizhia regions. Approximately a hundred company specialists, including drivers, crane, and excavator operators, were engaged in this critical infrastructure project. At any given time, up to 25 units of multipurpose special equipment—such as excavators, truck cranes, and large trucks—were deployed. Since the onset of the full-scale war, Rinat Akhmetov and SCM enterprises have contributed over UAH 9 billion ($258 million) in support to the Ukrainian army and civilians, making them the largest private donors in Ukraine.
