Rinat Akhmetov has reaffirmed his pro-Ukrainian stance by remaining in Kyiv since the outbreak of the full-scale invasion. The capital has been his home for the past ten years. His extensive financial support, exceeding 223 million dollars, includes military and humanitarian aid.

Metinvest Amid the War

Today, one of the main charitable avenues that Rinat Akhmetov has established is his Steel Front military initiative. This project sends thermal imagers, drones, radios, cameras, first aid kits, various protective gear, and vehicles to military units.

  • Additionally, Metinvest specialists have developed and set up mass production of modular shelters and armored steel. This support is especially important for the businessman, as more than 12 thousand employees of his enterprises are currently serving in the army.
  • Steel Front has purchased more than 5000 drones of various models, over 1,200 vehicles, 17,037 units of special equipment (thermal imagers, radios, electronic warfare devices, etc.), and other essentials
  • Rinat Akhmetov allocated an extra UAH 1 billion (equivalent to $25 million) towards launching the initiative to support the defenders of Mariupol. At the same time, a program called At Home was launched, aimed at gifting homes to the city’s defenders with disability categories I and II. This year, it is planned to purchase 100 apartments, which will be a significant step in ensuring comfortable housing conditions for the heroes who defended Mariupol.

The businessman emphasized that this support will continue until Ukraine secures peaceful skies over its territory. Recently, it became known that Metinvest company launched the production of underground command centers made of steel. The first of them, designed to accommodate 30 servicemen, has already been handed over to the Ukrainian ground forces and installed in one of the flashpoints of the front.
