When it comes to betting, sports betting is the most popular. Most of us are fascinated with sports, our favorite players, and their records. Sports betting doubles the excitement.

Is there not just a single form of betting? Instead, you can opt for different types of betting. But, you should understand them very clearly to decide the most suitable betting option.

Types of Sports Bets

Four types of bets are popular with most of the sports. These are Moneyline, Spreads, Totals, and Parlays. Being an avid sports wager, you must be aware of these terms.

But, if you are new to sports betting and need to learn about it, read the blog for insight.

Moneyline

Moneyline is the traditional and most commonly used betting in sports and is very easy to understand. Normally, there are two outcomes on a money-line bet: either the team wins or loses.

Rarely is a third outcome there if it draws.

So, one team is named favorites with a -ve integer, which has more chances of winning. The other one is called underdogs with a +ve integer, which has more chances of losing.

● The negative number is the money risked to win $100 if the team favorite wins.

● The positive number is the money you gain at a $100 bet if the team underdog wins.

Spreads

Spreads betting is also popular among the wagers. But it is different from traditional betting. There is a range of variables involved in it. It’s not about winning or losing; it’s all about variables.

You get two options: either you buy or sell your spread. But the amount of stake still needs to be fixed. It varies with the range of buying or selling the space.

Totals

We can also call Totals as overs/unders. Here, the sportsbook or betting site sets a score, and you have to bet on whether the total score will be over or under the set score.

● If the set winning score for a game is 158 points, you bet for over. The win is at 159 or more; you win $100 for every $110 you bet.

● If the win is below 158 points, the one who bets for underscore will win.

Parlays

Parlays betting is a combination of different bets. Here, you get better odds if you win. The condition is to win all the stakes involved.

If you lose any one bet and win the rest of the others, you will still lose the bet.

Conclusion

Of the four types of sports bets- moneyline, spreads, totals, and parlays, moneyline is the most used and easiest. So, if you are a beginner, you better go with it.

Once you are in the game and understand the odds and markets, you can also try other bets.

Always pick the bet type you are most comfortable with and understand the concepts very clearly.
