Four Memorable Moments from Super Bowl LX
Globally, a lot of the talk around Super Bowl LX was about the half-time show from Puerto Rican superstar Bad Bunny and the celebrity attendees of the game. As one of the most watched sporting events of most years, this makes sense in some ways. But that shouldn’t over rule the spectacle of the Seattle Seahawks’ 29-13 victory of the New England Patriots, which made for an exceedingly interesting Bowl game on a sporting level.
From a surprise pick six touchdown by returning Seahawks linebacker Uchenna Nwosu to an unexpected MVP winning performance from running back to Kenneth Walker to a new Super Bowl record, these are four incredible sporting moments from 2026’s big game.
Jason Myers Set a Super Bowl (and Season) Record
Although the pre-game storylines and betting markets focused on the opposing quarterbacks in Seattle’s comeback-hero Sam Darnold and New England’s hopeful dynastic successor Drake Maye, Seattle kicker Jason Myers quietly had one of the most remarkable kicking performances in Super Bowl history. Myers’ five goals accounted for 15 of Seattle’s 25 points, or more than half of the team’s total. A rare feat. Those points also took his season long total to 206 points – a new NFL single-season scoring record. Yet, despite setting two records and scoring more than any other player on the field, the highlight heroics of one of Myers’ teammates kept him out of MVP contention.
Despite most bettors expecting it to be a defensively tight game, with the over on scoring a long shot for both teams at most ‘books, few predicted that field goals might make the difference. Only four players had ever hit four field goals in a Super Bowl before:
- Don Chandler (Super Bowl II in 1968)
- Ray Wersching (Super Bowl XVI, 1982)
- Harrison Butker (Super Bowl LVIII in 2024)
- Jake Elliott (Super Bowl LIX, 2025)
Kenneth Walker is the First Running Back to Win MVP in 25 Years
Walker’s breakout performance will also reshape early betting markets for the 2026 NFL season. Futures odds for next year’s MVP and rushing leader awards are already shifting, and many bettors will be comparing sign-up offers and welcome incentives, including any available bet365 bonus code, ahead of the new campaign.
But the 2022 41st draft pick, who’s football career was almost ended in high school by a deadly blood clot in his lungs, put in an incredible shift and helped Seattle stay in control of a defensively tight game that was difficult for both star quarterbacks.
Walker finished the game with 136 rushing yards, 27 carries and forced eight missed tackles from the defensively solid Patriots. The MVP-winning performance was all the more remarkable as he didn’t score a single touchdown in the game (although he did have a late score denied by a penalty call). However, his consistent yardage under tough conditions was recognised as being integral to Seattle’s dominant win.
Uchenna Nwosu’s Crazy Pick Six Sealed it for Seattle
One of the key talking points before the game was how much Seattle’s impressive defense could pressure Drake Maye. The Patriots QB had an impressive season overall, but looked shaky in the post season – and this was borne out throughout the game.
One turning moment came late in the fourth quarter. At 22-7 to Seattle with just six minutes on the clock, the Patriots were not yet out of the game and it looked like a nervy finish could be on the cards for Seahawks fans.
But then Seattle cornerback Devon Witherspoon forced a rushed pass from Maye after a smooth blitz play – and Uchenna Nwosu snapped onto the interception before carrying 45 yards for a return touchdown.
The linebacker has had a troubled couple of seasons after moving to Seattle in 2023. He took a hefty pay cut to stay on the team in 2025 after a series of season interrupting injuries. Hitting a pick-six in a Super Bowl final to seal the win will surely cap his comeback,
First Overseas Coach to Win the Super Bowl Celebrated in the UK
One story that may have gone somewhat under the radar in the US, but was celebrated across the pond in the UK was the story of Seahawks defensive coordinator Aden Durde. The 46-year-old was born in London, England, and played gridiron for various European teams for many years before joining the Atlanta Falcons as an assistant coach in 2018.
Since then Durden has developed a reputation for solid defensive organization. Joining the Seahawks in 2024, he turned their defense into arguably one of the best in the NFL of recent years – a feat demonstrated by the near shutdown of the Patriots once they finally met again in the Super Bowl.
Durde celebrated after the game wrapped in a British flag. With the World Cup set to come to Canada, the USA and Mexico later in 2026, international cooperation between high performers in sports is in the spotlight more than ever. Making the moment not huge for Durde personally, but for global interest and high level participation in America’s biggest sport.
