Reduce Your Distance

This is especially important as you start running again, but it also applies when you are back in form. Reducing your distance will reduce the stress on your hips. If this isn’t an option, then build-up to the distance you were doing but run slower. This reduces the pressure on your hips. 

Add Strength Training

Instead of just running, focus on running every other day and doing some strength training on the other days. There are plenty of bodyweight exercises that can be done that will strengthen your hips and core, reducing pain while running.
